‘Plus one’ principle for Collaboration

When participants conduct a project authorized by the RCE, they will ensure adherence to the following principles:
◆ ‘Plus one’ principle: Ensure that actions involve taking a step forward towards a new method, field or community.
Remain aware of the RCE’s role as a base for developing partnerships for contributing to the achievement of the United Nations SDGs.
Remain conscious of our responsibility to aim to achieve our SDGs, which are also common goals shared by the rest of the world.
Ensure that RCE activities incorporate the vision of the SDGs.

The required viewpoints for collaborating projects of RCE Hokkaido Central are as follows:
Viewpoints regarding the solving of issues:
To ensure high relevance for international and regional society, economics and culture, and to consider environmental conservation and energy resources.
Viewpoints regarding education and the development of human resources:
To ensure that projects build upon many small successes and failures of past efforts, and use diverse values to increase their strength.

※ RCE Hokkaido Central recognizes that ‘education’ is as follows.

That is, education shall
・ Not only concern the one-way transmission of knowledge, but also involve mutual learning.
・ Not constitute a goal in itself, but strive to be a means of contributing to societal transformation.
・ Not only take place in schools, but also include learning from social situations and stakeholders.

In implementing the various activities of RCE Hokkaido Central, roles of the Council are as follows:
◆ Platform for matching the participating organizations/institutions:
To promote for new stakeholder and participating organizations/institutions to join the collaborating projects of the RCE.
Opportunity to develop and refine collaborating projects of the RCE:
・ To ensure that plans for projects that should be conducted by the RCE are deliberated at the general meeting, and strengthened with the input and ideas of various partners.
・ To not just authorize plans, but also improve them by adding elements from one’s field of expertise.
・ To advise the project as required after starting.
